Traditionalists like the contemporary magisterium (post 1949) are in doctrinal error. Like the Vatican Curia and the Rome Vicariate traditionalists cannot deny that we do not know any explicit exception to extra ecclesiam nulla salus in 2015 . Nor does pre-1949 Church documents claim there are known exceptions. So Fr.Leonard Feeney was correct and the Holy Office was wrong. Traditionalists agree we cannot see people in Heaven, face to face saved in invincible ignorance or the baptism of desire.Physically they are zero cases. So they cannot be considered exceptions in the present times to all needing to formally enter the Catholic Church for salvation ( to avoid Hell).Hypothetical cases, theoretical cases cannot be considered exceptions to the dogma or the Syllabus of Errors on other religions and Christians needing to convert into the Catholic Church.
Catholics in general do not know theology. So they depend on the pope or the traditionalists. The cardinals Marchetti-Cushing combine brought a new revelation, a new doctrine into the Church and they were not corrected by Pope Pius XII.
The new reasoning was also not corrected by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, Michael Treharne Davies or Dietrich Von Hildebrand.Even Pope John Paul XXIII before Vatican Council II accepted the irrationality.
No pope was willing to say in public that Jews in Boston need to convert into the Church for salvation and there were no known exceptions. So Fr.Feeney was correct.
This error was not identified by the apologists Fr.John Hardon, Fr.William Most and Mons. Joseph Clifford Fenton.Without really thinking it was wrongly accepted by archbishops and cardinals.
Today the same error is accepted by Christopher Ferrara, John Vennari, Louie Verrecchio and John Salza.
How can the baptism of desire and being saved in invincible ignorance be exceptions to the traditional, centuries old interpretation of extra ecclesiam nulla salus?
How can Lumen Gentium 16 ( saved in invincible ignorance) be an exception to the Feeneyite version of extra ecclesiam nulla salus ?
Zero cases of something are not exceptions says John Martignoni, the apologist.
This is fundamental. It would be obvious even to a school boy or a non Christian.
Yet for Daphne McLeoad there were exceptions, since this was the 'magisterial' teaching.
How could the magisterium of 1949 contradict the pre-1949 magisterium ? Yet it did and traditionalists did not complain about the Marchetti error.
Traditionalists, and Catholics in general can still affirm the old theology by citing Vatican Council II. They could say all non Catholics need to convert formally into the Church ( with faith and baptism) to avoid Hell and there are no exceptions (Ad Gentes 7).Most people are on the way to Hell without Catholic Faith and the baptism of water ( AG 7, LG 14, Vatican Council II). Catholics are the new people of God, the elect.(Nostra Aetate, Vatican Council II).Outside the Church there is no known salvation (AG 7).All Orthodox Christians, Protestants and Pentecostals need to enter the Church for salvation (AG 7,LG 14,CCC 1257,CCC 845).There will be a Day of Judgement and most people would be sent to Hell according to the Catholic Church ( AG 7,LG 14 etc).Sin leads to Hell. There are good angels and bad angels. The Bible tells us that the bad angels are in Hell.Dives who called upon Abraham and Lazarus is also in Hell. Judas is in Hell according to the Bible. Many Catholics are on the way to Hell since they are living in public sin.
We can proclaim all this by citing Vatican Council II and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.-Lionel Andrades
